Let’s Get Crafting our DIY Macrame Ghost!
Step 1 – Cutting out the Foam Board or Cardboard to size
Cut some foam board or cardboard into a half circle. I used my dog’s water bowl as a template and then just cut it in half.
Step 2 – Gluing the macrame yarn onto the cardboard/foam board
Take your macrame yarn and gluing it in the center of the foam/cardboard. You can see mine started a little higher than center, if you lower it, you wont waste as much cardboard at the end. Make sure the length of the yarn is even on both sides. Keep going until the top of the cardboard/ foamboard is covered. Cut off any excess cardboard on the sides if necessary
Step 3 – Add the ghostly face with your black fabric
Walmart sells scrap black fabric that you can buy for nearly $1. You can use this to draw a ghost face with chalk paint or a white marker. Cut it out and hot glue the pieces onto the macrame yarn.
Step 4 – Unravel the ends of the yarn
Next you’ll want to unravel the macrame yarn from the bottom until you reach the foamboard/cardboard. Once you unravel all the pieces, take your scissors and trim up the ends to make sure they lay even and the same length.
Step 5 – Hang it up
I used these sawtooth hangers and hot glued them to the back so that I could hang them on the wall. I added the nails that came with the sawtooth hangers for extra security, but I think the hot glue should work just fine.
Crafting your own macramé ghost is a fantastic way to bring some personalized charm to your Halloween decorations. Not only is it a fun and easy project to tackle, but it also adds a handmade element that stands out in your home. Whether you hang your ghost in a window, on your front door, or as part of a spooky vignette, it’s sure to be an eye catcher So grab your supplies, get creative, and enjoy the festive season with this delightful DIY!
