Hidden Man Cave – Small Home Office Idea
While our house boasts beautiful decor and inviting spaces, I wanted to go the extra mile and create something truly special for my husband—a hidden man cave. Therefore, I embarked on a journey to design and build a secret oasis that would serve as his personal retreat.
When my husband and I bought our home we had no idea that we would both be working from home. Then Covid-19 happened. We suddenly realized our 1900 sq ft townhome with 3 bedrooms didn’t exactly give us the space we needed to have two work from home stations. So, leave it to the pandemic for us being creative.

Once I got pregnant with our second child, our house started to feel a bit more cramped. We moved out one office space so that our son would have his own room. And this is where our creativity started to unfold.
We felt lucky that our townhome has a lot of storage space. Under our stairs was this closet that we felt could easily be transformed into another office space. Why not a hidden man cave? It was the perfect idea to feed his gaming hobby/work from home need.
That’s where this hidden man cave room idea started to take flame. I always loved the idea of brick, and I felt brick wallpaper for this room would be the perfect fit! (Thanks to my sister in law Krystal for helping me learn and tackle my first wallpaper project.) This wallpaper was paste and felt it was quite a lot harder than peel and stick. You can read more about the difference between the two here.
Gaming Side
I built a floating desk (which you can learn how to build HERE) for his gaming computer and then built a folding desk that he could use for his work laptop. That way when he was done working he could easily fold it down, store his laptop and get to gaming.
Small Office / Relaxed Space
On the other side I built a more relaxed space. This reclining chair that matched perfectly with the DIY desks I built and the brick wallpaper. I hung a painting that we had bought on our anniversary to Hong Kong. I even built a DIY frame to go around it and am quite obsessed with the aesthetic that it brings to this Hidden Man Cave.
Overall, this is probably my favorite room in the house now and I’m super jealous of the space. So now I need to think of ideas for my office space.
