How to Install Kitchen Cabinets Process:
- Gather your tools and materials. (Listed above).
- Measure and mark: Measure the height and width of the cabinets and mark the wall where they will be installed. Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall, and mark their location with a pencil.
- Install the upper cabinets: Begin with the upper cabinets. If installing it by yourself, Start by attaching a ledger board to the wall to support the weight of the cabinets. Use the level to make sure the cabinet is straight, then drill pilot holes into the studs and screw directly through the cabinet into the wall. Install the cabinets one at a time, using shims to level them and screws to attach them to the wall.
- You can use a countersink drill bit to help ensure the screw sits into the cabinet and is not sticking out.
- Install the lower cabinets: Install the lower cabinets in the same way as the upper cabinets, using a level and shims to make sure they are level and plumb.
- Attach the doors and hardware: Once the cabinets are installed, attach the doors and hardware like these gold and black ones I used in my kitchen, and install them according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Finish the installation: Finally, finish the installation by adding any finishing touches, such as molding or trim. You can also add these screw cover stickers to cover the screws in your cabinets.
It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific cabinets, as installation methods may vary. Additionally, if you’re not comfortable with DIY installations, it’s best to hire a professional to ensure the job is done correctly.
