Week 5 Coming Right Up- One Room Challenge
Everyone feels defeated in life at one moment or another and I think week 4 of the One Room Challenge was my breaking point.
Thank goodness for husband for being there to remind me that I’m learning and to show me all the great work I’ve already done. Thanks to him I was able to jump that hurdle of defeat and keep on going even if I don’t finish everything before the challenge ends.
This week I was able to do the following:
For the life of me, I cannot figure out the best way to build the top of my IKEA built-in bookshelves. So, I’m highly considering to recruit the help of my step-dad, who is a professional carpenter, in hopes that he’ll have some great tips for me this next week *crossing fingers*
However this week I absolutely LOVED installing the shiplap! Holy cow does it really liven up a room super fast (and I’m not even all the way done!)
I decided to try out a Chalk Reel to make the installation of the shiplap easier, and it’s totally worth it! I used my stud finder to find the studs in the wall and marked the studs on the top and bottom. (I also love the fact that my stud finder notifies me of any electrical wiring or metal so I can try to avoid those areas). I then lined up my chalk reel and created a simple chalk line that would act as my guide for where I should nail into my shiplap. I HIGHLY recommend it!
And THANKFULLY I think I chose a shade of blue to use for the other walls in my room. Can you guess which shade I chose? (I’m just praying it turns out and that I don’t hate it).
Cheers to Week 5!! Wish me luck!
